Outside under the ancient oak tree, Cooper\u2019s ears spiked. The German Shepherd didn’t see the danger yet, but he heard the metallic clack<\/em> of a brass window latch sliding home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cooper stood, his 90-pound frame tense, coal-colored fur bristling along his spine.
